BREAKING NEWS: US GOVT OFFERED WARSHIP TO REPLACE momentarily the RUSTY SHIP that PHILIPPINES has in the AYUNGIN, SCARBOROUGH!

The rusty BRP Sierra Madre ship that has been holding the fort for the Philippines in Ayungin, Scarborough is a pitiful, if not laughable, sight. It has been there ever since the Philippine government stood its ground for the ownership of the territory that is widely known as West Philippine Sea.

After the ruling of the International Tribunal in the Hague in favor of the Philippines, China has been so headstrong about not packing up and leaving the Scarborough Shoal. Other countries have sent their congratulations to the Philippines and felt irritated that China is not honoring the ruling. France, UK, Australia, Japan and Germany, among others have offered to extend their support to fight China in case they will wage a war against the Philippines.

In this connection, the US government sent an envoy to the Philippines and sought to speak with an undisclosed cabinet member to relay the message to President Duterte that they are offering their warship USS Bataan. According to this link, the ship is a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship commissioned in 1997. The ship is named to honor the defense of the Bataan Peninsula on the western side of Manila Bay in the Philippines during the early days of US involvement in World War II (refer to the left picture above). Check out its general characteristics below:

Class and type:Wasp-class amphibious assault ship
Displacement:40,358 long tons (41,006 t) full load
Length:844 ft (257 m)
Beam:106 ft (32 m)
Draft:27 ft (8.2 m)
Propulsion:Geared steam turbines
Speed:exceeds 20 knots (23 mph; 37 km/h)
Troops:1,894 Marines
Complement:104 officers, 1,004 enlisted
Armament:
Aircraft carried:

This friendly offer by the US government, one of the Philippines' best and strongest allies in the world, would definitely help boost the confidence of not just the soldiers stationed in Ayungin, but also the entire Filipino community. There is still no confirmation, though, whether the Philippine government is amenable to this offer, that seems to be free of obligations or repercussions from the Philippines, or not.

  7. ACCEPTING AND PUTTING IT THERE IN THE PLACE NEAR THE DILAPIDATED RUSTY SHIP IS A PROVOCATION OF WAR AGAINST CHINA RIGHT THERE & THEN. IF THE U.S. WAS REALLY THINKING OF THE PHILIPPINES THRU SUCH OFFER, THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN LONG BEFORE WE FILE A CASE AGAINST CHINA AT THE INTERNATIONAL TRIBUNAL. THE ALLIES ARE REALLY INTERESTED THE IGNITION RIGHT NOW AT OUR GREAT EXPENSE...

  8. Best is to build a permanent structure with a parola type guard house fully fortified and armed to secure our territorial waters.. But if it is true that this battle ship is offered, it would a welcome added deterrent to any invasive provocation.

  10. I dont know the solution but I dont think war is. How sure are we that the US will help us? They are having their election in Nov. and Trump already said that US should stop helping it's allies. They have their own problems to solve. Also, the reason why US wants to help is because they sell weapons. Also they want to make sure that they have a base in SE Asia. In addition, do you think that the Philippines will win over China? Lots of Filipinos are saying let's go for war. I bet a lot will just migrate to other countries. Besides, if war happens, what is the outcome? Sinong kawawa in the end? What happens now to the country that US helped like Afganistan? We should not be arrogant because we just depend on the US and there is no assurance. So as of now, I agree that we have to resort to peace talks. No choice. Play politics. We have to think long term-the end result.

  12. Hoax, the USS Bataan carrier for VSTOL ( vertical short take off and land). Eli, we cannot have a war in China, it is a Massacre, we have 2 figher jets while China has 300 MIgs Duterte is right it is a massacre......according to agreement, US can defend Philippines, but think about the effect of war.....did you see Iraq, Libya, Syria, meron tayong ang "mamatay ng dahil sayo" but how do we have a head collision with China? think about it.....not just a word of war.....it is a total annihilation of Filipino, wala tayong firepower, their MIGS can be here in a matter of minutes, Eli you should go to Syria, you will see the ravages of war.and you will not think of getting ito war... - Pinoy US Navy Vet

    1. i agree with you on one thing but i disagree with another. It will not be a massacre like you think it is. Do you think the UN will just "watch"? they can't because the Chinese will block all passage ways of trade. maraming bansa ang maapektuhan. buong southeast Asia. at ibang bansa na may interest sa bansang pinas. cguro matagal na ang one month. but one week pa lang nandyan na ang mga allies natin tulad ng US, Japan, France, UK, Australlia, Germany. papahintuin ng UN yan because the Trillion dollars of trade ay dumadaan dyan sa Sptralys. So, hindi lang SE Asia ang maapektuhan kundi pati buong mundo. and if the Chinese will not stop, then the Whole World will come to SE Asia to stop it even if it means they make war with war with China. We should make a stand even if we know we are not capable just to show the whole world our resolve and that we are the one na "naapi". The whole world sympathize with "naapi". and dont think its katawa-tawa kasi ilang beses na nangyari ang ganyan. I agree with you that war is not a soluton, as long as possible we should make talks but if the chinese is bringing war on us even if we try to avoid it, what can you possibly do? Answer me, if your neighbor ni-extend nya nag sakop nya sa lupain mo at naglagay ng maliit na kubo or anuman, tapos sabihin sa kanya yun? nagsampa ka ng kaso pero ayaw pa rin umalis. what are you going to do? we made talks already with them, but still they took Scarborough Shoal, nagsampa tayo ng kaso sa The Hague, nanalo tayo. pero ayw pa rin nila umalis. what is the next thing you do? it seems like you cannot avoid war. at masaklap sa bakuran pa natin mag-gera. dapt dalhin natin sa kanila ang gera. ruin their economies everywhere but still they can do that to us too. then anu na ang gagawin natin....sit back, relax and enjoy? Mig fighters can come, yes, but they cannot continue to do battle. ubos na ang fuel nila, mga maximum 30 minutes then balik na sila ng china. kaya nga gumagawa sila ng airstrips sa mga islands na malapit sa atin para mahaba ang loitering time nila. so, what do you think ang unahin tirahin? yung mga islands na may airstrip ang unang tirahin then i-occupy natin. para di natin problema yang mga mig fighters na yan. if chinese use their aircraft, do you think US papayag? i don think so. Alam natin na kaya nila pinag-aagawan yan dahil sa mga natural resources. at gusto ng chinese sa kanila lang yun. they dont like to share. eh, gusto din ng US yan. they also need that important resources to feed their economy. paglabanin natin silang mga ganid. may mga mamamatay na filipino but they cannot conquer the whole philippines, their navy is not just capable to supply their troops, even transport their million troops to the philippines. even if they can land on the philippines, a 100 million filipinos will resist them. and they know it. so the war will be limited only on the islands that are disputed. the chinese will not think to invade the philippines. if they think that then they will risk their reputation as a law abiding nation. Other nations can make economic sanctions. some are going to cut the mallaca straits. what is their achilles heels? oil that are coming from Middle East and it all passing thru Malaccca Straits. France and other European countries are already patrolling there. The philippines has GDP of 200 plus billion dollars. we can buy fighter jets from allied nations in an instant, mostly from US. Filipino pilots are actually training in Clark Airfield with F-18s and AH-1. What are we afraid of? we beat them twice, in the battle of Manila against Chinese Limahong, and in Korea: 1400 Filipinos against 30,000 Chinese. Why are we still afraid? Sun Tzu said if you think you will loose then you are already lost. if china bring the war to you, you dont have a choice but to fight. Navy vet ka-dapat alam mo yan.

America has proven over and over again that they'll be there for us in time of need either war or calamities.Besides, the Japanese who are Chinese slayers are in our side.So quit your silly fear mongering, just watch things unfold and be quiet if you don't have anything encouraging, uplifting and inspiring to say. Aren't you sick and tired of being bullied, treated and chased like a dog?Man up Filipinos! We'll win this one as usual.

  17. It has always been said that America does not give anything for nothing in return. But to analyze the situation further, the warship being offered to replace the old rusty ship placed there for several years to serve as our landmark of ownership to that piece of land in the middle of the sea, will only serve as a magnet or a cause of provocation to China. If we are to analyze it further, if worse comes to worst, it is the lives of the Filipinos who will be exposed to terrible danger from being erased from the map of this world if megaton bombs will start flying in the air as an aftermath of failure to observe "cooler heads" at the negotiation table as earlier proposed by our President Duterte has earlier predicted that to think otherwise will ultimately cause a horrible carnage in terms of large-scale "massacre" of Filipinos. We better think it over wisely and we should not lose sight of the lessons to learn about an old proverbial saying, "Look before you leap," and, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Think it over my dear countrymen before being misled into a accepting something that will only trigger more adverse things to come in the future. Let us allow President Duterte to make his final decision because, I notice, some of the bloggers here are only writing their comments without knowing that saying something bringing our country closer to the edge of war is something that we should guard against and put as our our last resort but not at this time when we still have several options to freely and clearly to choose from based on sound judgment that will bring us closer to a peaceful solution of what they call a "win-win" solution.

But the current admin Wala man Lang ginawang protesta para kondenahin ito. Sa sarili nating teritoryo binubully Tayo kasi di kumikibo Ang mga nakaupo.
